Remodeling Planning by DeVere Insulation

Are you considering remodeling your home or in the middle of a remodeling project? This is a great time to consider upgrading your insulation.

During a remodeling project, your home’s primary insulating areas are open. It is an ideal time to upgrade insulation while attic roofs and wall studs are exposed.

Walls, ceilings and other areas that are normally closed off and more difficult to insulate become fully accessible during a remodel. This gives a contractor more insulating options from which you can benefit.

Some upgraded insulation options include:

Spray Foam Insulation

Spray foam insulation is a product that insulates and seals air leaks in one step. Spray foam expands to fill a cavity (similar to how shaving cream expands when dispensed from a can). This property allows spray foam to seal air leaks as it naturally expands and fills a cavity.

Hybrid Insulation

A hybrid insulation system combines the air sealing benefits of spray foam insulation with the lower price of fiberglass insulation. In a hybrid system, an open cavity is sprayed with a layer of foam insulation to seal air leaks. Next fiberglass batt insulation is installed to add R-value without filling the entire cavity with spray foam.
